D N Decorators – Your Wirral Painting Specialists
I’m Dave Faulkner, and I’ve had a paintbrush in my hand for over 30 years now. Started as a young lad doing my apprenticeship at Wirral Met (earned my NVQ 1&2 there), and I’ve been painting and decorating across the Wirral ever since.
Our little team works out of Bebington, and I’m dead chuffed that we’ve built such a solid reputation over the years. The 120+ lovely Google reviews we’ve got mean the world to me – real feedback from real Wirral folk who’ve trusted us with their homes and businesses.
We’ll tackle pretty much anything – from freshening up your living room to heritage work (like the job we did at 25 The Village in Bebington). We even had our work shown on telly once, when Phil Spencer’s “Secret Agent” program came to town! That was a bit nerve-wracking, but the lads did me proud.
What makes us different? Nothing fancy, to be honest. We do the basics right:
- We turn up when we say we will
- We don’t cut corners on preparation (that’s why our work lasts)
- We clean up properly after ourselves
- We use good materials (been using Johnstones for decades ’cause it works)
- We treat your place with the same respect we’d want in our own homes
We offer all the usual services for homes and businesses:

Dave’s Decorating Tips From 30 Years on the Job
Look, I’m not one for keeping trade secrets. After three decades splashing paint across the Wirral, here’s what I tell my customers:
For That Perfect Paint Finish:
- Two coats aren’t just for show – they’re essential for most interior walls. And if you’re going lighter over dark? You might need three or even four.
- Cutting-in without tape isn’t magic – it’s just practice and a decent angled brush. I’ve been doing it so long I reckon I could do it blindfolded (though the missus won’t let me try that at home!)
- Want your paintwork to last? It’s all in the prep. We spend more time sanding and filling than we do actually painting. Bit boring, but makes all the difference.
Tackling Those Tricky Bits:
- Got high gloss surfaces to paint over? Don’t skip the sanding – that shine needs roughing up before any primer will stick properly.
- Moisture stains coming through? No point just painting over. We find the source, fix it, then use proper stain block before the top coats.
- Wallpapering around sockets? Little diagonal cuts in the corners is our trick – tuck those flaps behind nice and neat.
The Tools That Make The Difference:
- We don’t just use any old roller. Quality tools mean quality finishes, simple as that.
- For walls, our telescopic sanding poles save our backs and your plaster. Heavy-handed sanding’s a rookie mistake we learned to avoid decades ago.
- Our LED inspection torches find those little imperfections you’d never spot until the sun hits them just right. Better we find ’em than you!
Been using these methods since I was a lad, and they’ve never let me down. Not saying we’re perfect – just that we’ve made all the mistakes already so you don’t have to!

If you fancy a chat about what needs doing, give us a bell. I promise there’s no hard sell – just straight talk about what’s needed and a fair price to do it properly. After 30-odd years on the Wirral, I reckon I’ve painted at least one room in most streets around here!
We’re properly insured, take safety seriously, and keep learning new tricks of the trade. But what really matters is that we genuinely want you to love our work. Nothing beats that moment when a customer walks in and goes “wow” – still gets me every time.
